# MedZ Account Deletion

## How to Request Account Deletion
If you have a MedZ account, you can request deletion of your account and associated data from within the app:
1. Open `MedZ`
2. Go to `Settings`
3. Tap `Delete Account`
4. Confirm the request using your current password
If you are unable to access the app and need help with account deletion, contact:
Please include enough information for us to identify your account safely, such as your username and registered phone number or recovery email.
## What Happens After You Request Deletion
When you request account deletion:
- your account is immediately disabled
- active sessions are revoked
- any pending access to the account is blocked
- your deletion request is placed into a scheduled deletion workflow
This means you should no longer be able to use the account after the deletion request is confirmed.
## What Data Is Deleted
When the deletion workflow completes, MedZ is designed to delete or remove access to the following user-linked data associated with the account:
- account sessions
- PIN credentials
- family member profiles added under the account
- explanation history
- symptom session records
- lab report records
- prescription records
- uploaded lab and prescription files stored by the service
- feedback linked to the account or its explanations
- chat and conversation records linked to the account
## What Data May Be Retained
MedZ currently retains a minimal anonymized internal account record after deletion so the system can preserve database integrity and deletion audit state.
This retained internal record is not intended to remain usable as an active account and is anonymized as part of the deletion workflow.
Certain limited audit, security, or compliance-related records may also be retained where reasonably necessary to:
- protect the service
- investigate abuse or fraud
- maintain security logs
- comply with legal obligations
## Deletion Timing
MedZ uses a delayed deletion workflow.
After a deletion request is confirmed:
- the account is disabled immediately
- associated data is then processed by the deletion workflow
The exact completion timing may vary depending on system state and operational processing windows.
## Re-Registration After Deletion
After deletion has fully completed, some account identifiers such as username, phone number, or recovery email may become available for reuse in a new account.
This does not restore previously deleted account data.
## Important Notes
- Guest sessions do not use the same account deletion process as registered accounts.
- Account deletion is intended for registered user accounts only.
- If you contact support for deletion assistance, we may need to verify account ownership before acting on the request.
